Ninja, the world’s most-followed Twitch streamer and professional video game player, shocked fans by revealing his recent diagnosis of skin cancer.
In a candid announcement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the streamer, whose real name is Tyler Blevins, disclosed that during a routine dermatologist visit scheduled by his wife Jess, a concerning mole on his foot prompted further investigation. The diagnosis came back as melanoma, but doctors remain optimistic as it was caught in its early stages.
Following the initial diagnosis, Ninja underwent further procedures to address another dark spot near the melanoma. Doctors biopsied and removed a larger area surrounding the affected region, hopeful for clear results indicating successful removal.
Expressing gratitude for the early detection, Ninja urged his followers to prioritize regular skin checkups, emphasizing the importance of proactive health measures.
Ninja rose to prominence in 2009 as a competitive “Halo 3” player and gained widespread recognition as the face of professional gaming during the meteoric rise of “Fortnite” in 2017. His celebrity status soared as he collaborated with high-profile figures like Drake, Travis Scott, and JuJu Smith Schuster on Twitch, and made appearances on popular talk shows such as “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Daily Show,” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
With nearly 24 million subscribers on YouTube and a staggering 19 million followers on Twitch, Ninja’s influence extends far beyond the gaming community.
