Victoria Justice, renowned for her leading role in Nickelodeon’s “Victorious,” recently discussed her latest venture while promoting her new single “Raw” on SiriusXM’s “Hits 1 LA with Tony Fly and Symon.” She revealed that her upcoming role in the film “Depravity” required her to film her first-ever sex scene, marking a significant departure from her previous work. Despite the discomfort associated with such scenes, Justice commended the professionalism of the crew in handling the sensitive material with taste and sensitivity.
Reflecting on her initial apprehension, Justice recounted how her first day on set coincided with filming the intimate scene, a daunting prospect for any actor. Expressing her nerves and anxiety about the situation, she questioned whether she had made the right decision. However, Justice emphasized her confidence in the director, Paul Tamasy, whose reassuring approach helped alleviate her concerns. Tamasy’s promise to involve her in the process and make adjustments if necessary provided Justice with the reassurance she needed to proceed.
“Depravity” marks Tamasy’s debut as a feature director, following his acclaimed work as a screenwriter on films like “The Fighter” and “The Finest Hours.” The film follows a group of tenants who suspect their neighbor of being a serial killer and stumble upon a multimillion-dollar art heist during their investigation. Justice stars alongside Devon Ross, Taylor John Smith, Sasha Luss, and Dermot Mulroney in this gripping thriller.
Justice candidly shared her perspective on filming intimate scenes, dispelling the misconception that they are inherently glamorous or enjoyable. Instead, she described the experience as uncomfortable, particularly with the presence of numerous crew members observing the process. Despite the awkwardness, Justice praised her co-star for his professionalism and respect, despite their limited acquaintance.
Ultimately, Justice expressed satisfaction with the filming process, noting that the scene was executed tastefully and respectfully. Paramount secured global distribution rights for “Depravity” in December, although a release date has yet to be announced. Justice’s willingness to embrace challenging roles and navigate unfamiliar territory underscores her versatility as an actor, promising audiences a captivating performance in this upcoming thriller.
