The voice actor in question, implicated in child sex abuse in 2004, gained notoriety through the ID documentary series “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kid’s TV,” where James Marsden’s letter supporting him resurfaced. While Marsden, renowned for his roles in “Westworld,” “Jury Duty,” and “The Notebook,” was not directly involved with the children’s network during the incident, he had a longstanding acquaintance with Brian Peck.
In 2003, Peck faced 11 charges, including sodomy and lewd acts upon a minor. A year later, he received a 16-month prison sentence and was mandated to register as a sex offender. During the trial, 41 individuals, including Marsden, submitted letters to the judge in support of Peck, hoping for a just sentence.
Drake Bell, a victim of Peck’s abuse at 15, expressed disappointment at the leniency of the outcome, particularly as Peck later secured a role on Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life Of Zach & Cody.” However, upon discovery of his history, Disney terminated his employment. Despite restrictions on direct contact with children, Peck’s involvement in productions with child actors remained permissible according to court documents.
In the wake of the documentary’s revelations, Peck declined to comment on the matter. Marsden’s letter, unveiled over two decades later, presents a surprising aspect of the case, raising questions about his awareness of Peck’s charges at the time.
