Perth, Australia eagerly anticipates the return of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti confirmed UFC 305 will ignite the city’s RAC Arena on August 18.
Following the resounding success of UFC 284 in February 2022, which featured a showdown between former featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title, Perth is poised to host another thrilling event.
Scheduled the night after the Wallabies face off against the Springboks at Optus Stadium, Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti hailed the weekend as a “winter blockbuster of international sport.”
Highlighting the significance of UFC 305, Saffioti emphasized that it will be the sole Pay-Per-View event in Australia for 2024, broadcasting live to over 975 million households in more than 170 countries worldwide.
Citing the substantial economic boost from UFC 284, which injected $16 million into the local economy, Saffioti underscored the importance of bringing major events like UFC to Perth. Such events activate the city, draw thousands of visitors, stimulate the local economy, and showcase Western Australia on a global stage.
Adding to the excitement, UFC 305 may feature local talents such as Perth fighters Steve Erceg and Jack Della Maddalena, potentially making the event even more memorable for fans and enthusiasts alike.
