Tragic Discovery: Bodies of Former TV Presenter Jesse Baird and Partner Found, NSW Police Officer Arrested

The bodies of former Australian TV presenter Jesse Baird and his partner, Luke Davies, were discovered after they were reported missing last week. Police suspect the couple was murdered in Baird’s Sydney home, leading to the arrest of New South Wales police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, who had previously been in a relationship with Baird.

Human remains were found at a property in Bungonia, approximately two hours southwest of Sydney, prompting NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb to confirm the discovery of two bodies. Crime scene detectives were dispatched to investigate further.

Detective Superintendent Daniel Doherty revealed that Lamarre-Condon, charged with the murders, assisted in locating the remains. Investigators found two surf bags containing the bodies near the property entrance, covered in debris.

It’s believed the bodies were transported from Baird’s Paddington home in surf bags, with a rented van used to transport them to the rural location in Bungonia. The exact condition of the bodies remains uncertain pending a comprehensive crime scene investigation and subsequent post-mortem examinations.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb expressed concern over the alleged use of a service firearm in the incident, emphasizing the need for a thorough review.

Following the tragedy, organizers of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras decided to request that police refrain from participating in the upcoming parade out of respect for the grieving LGBTQIA+ community. The board expressed that police involvement could exacerbate the current feelings of sorrow and distress within the community.

While acknowledging the importance of police protection for the LGBTQIA+ community, independent state lawmaker and gay activist Alex Greenwich stressed the necessity for the police to address internal issues. Webb urged the Mardi Gras board to reconsider their decision, highlighting that the incident was not a gay hate crime but a domestic homicide, emphasizing the importance of unity during such trying times.
