Former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Robin Windsor has tragically passed away at the age of 44.
Tributes pour in for Windsor, who joined the BBC competition in 2010 and participated in four series until 2013. He had to withdraw from the show after experiencing paralysis for four days due to a slipped disc.
Windsor made a memorable return to Strictly in 2014 for the show’s first same-sex dance, partnering with Aljaž Škorjanec.
During his tenure on Strictly, Windsor partnered with celebrities including Patsy Kensit, Anita Dobson, Lisa Riley, and Deborah Meaden. He achieved his highest placement with Riley, finishing fifth in 2012.
He also featured in numerous Strictly Christmas specials alongside DJ Sara Cox, Alison Hammond, and Susanna Reid, who tearfully discussed Windsor’s passing on Good Morning Britain.
News of Windsor’s death was confirmed by Burn the Floor, the dance company he co-founded. They praised his talent, energy, and personality, mourning his loss and reminiscing about his contributions.
Former Strictly professional James Jordan remembered Windsor as a caring and fun colleague.
Speaking about his decision to leave Strictly in 2014, Windsor expressed his heartbreak but emphasized the necessity due to potential permanent nerve damage.
Aside from Strictly, Windsor performed with Burn the Floor and competed globally in Ballroom and Latin competitions.
He was also known for his charity work, supporting causes like male cancer awareness and LGBTQ+ equality.
Windsor’s passing is mourned by many in the entertainment industry, with tributes highlighting his talent, spirit, and impact on those around him.
