Ryan Gosling’s performance in the 2016 musical romantic comedy “La La Land” earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor and contributed to the film’s critical and commercial triumph. However, amidst the acclaim, Gosling harbors one regrettable moment.
In a recent interview with WSJ magazine, Gosling confessed to feeling haunted by a particular scene in “La La Land” involving a dance sequence with co-star Emma Stone. Reflecting on how the moment ended up becoming the film’s poster, Gosling expressed dissatisfaction with his hand placement, which he believes detracted from the energy of the scene.
Recalling the decision-making process during filming, Gosling explained how he opted for a hand position that he believed to be cooler, despite advice to the contrary. Now, seeing the poster frequently, he laments his choice, deeming it a misstep that he refers to as “La La Hand.”
Despite his regret over this detail, “La La Land” received widespread acclaim, tying a record with 14 Oscar nominations and winning six, including Best Director and Best Actress for Stone. Gosling himself was nominated for Best Actor, but ultimately lost to Casey Affleck for “Manchester by the Sea.”
Looking ahead, Gosling’s next project is “The Fall Guy,” where he portrays Colt Seavers, a retired stuntman drawn back into action to locate a missing star from his ex-girlfriend’s blockbuster film. The movie hit theaters on May 3rd, promising audiences another captivating performance from Gosling.
