Russian Drone Attack Claims Lives in Ukrainian City of Kharkiv

Russian forces launched a series of Shahed drones targeting the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv overnight, resulting in the death of four individuals and injuring 12, as reported by regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov on Thursday. At least 15 drones were deployed in the attack, with some being intercepted by air defense systems.

The assault struck a multistory building previously damaged in an earlier attack, claiming the lives of three rescuers and injuring six others. Additionally, a 14-story building was hit by one of the drones, resulting in the death of a 69-year-old woman.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, has faced repeated aggression from Russian forces in recent weeks. Situated near the Russian border, it has been targeted with both ballistic missiles and drone strikes.

A recent extensive missile barrage aimed at crippling Ukraine’s energy infrastructure plunged much of Kharkiv into darkness, with efforts underway to restore stability.

Responding to the attack, Ukraine’s human rights chief, Dmytro Lubinets, emphasized the need for accountability, stating on Telegram, “Each act of Russian terror reinforces the necessity for one thing — justice through a tribunal.”
