According to a report by the Independent, a royal expert has revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton are grappling with “intense anxiety” over the prospect of assuming the throne following King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis.
Tina Brown, former editor of Vanity Fair, stated that Charles’s illness has placed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in a “frightening proximity to ascending the throne.” Brown quoted, “The prospect of it, I am told, is causing them intense anxiety.”
At 75 years old, King Charles is currently undergoing cancer treatment, while the 42-year-old Duchess of Cambridge continues with her engagements as her health allows. This situation has led the 41-year-old Prince William to step up and fulfill his father’s duties during this challenging period.
Meanwhile, there is uncertainty regarding Meghan Markle’s participation in Prince Harry’s upcoming trip to the UK in May for a special service commemorating a decade of the Invictus Games. Former royal correspondent for the Sun, Charles Rae, expressed doubts, suggesting that Meghan may not return to the UK, stating, “I just don’t think she wants to have anything to do with this country.”
Additionally, reports circulated about a fabricated story on Russian disinformation networks, alleging that Charles had sold the royal residence of Highgrove House to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for £20 million. The King’s former butler has since refuted these claims.
