Rep. Lauren Boebert Undergoes Successful Surgery for Blood Clot, Expected to Fully Recover

Republican Representative Lauren Boebert underwent surgery on Tuesday in Colorado to remove a blood clot in her leg, with her campaign announcing that she is expected to fully recover.

Hospitalized on Monday due to severe swelling in her left leg, doctors diagnosed Boebert with May-Thurner Syndrome, a rare disorder affecting women between 20 and 45, often associated with childbirth. Her campaign suggested potential causes such as dehydration, travel, and extended periods of sitting.

The surgery successfully removed the clot and inserted a stent to restore blood flow. Dr. Rebecca Bade, the attending hospitalist, assured that patients typically resume normal activities after such procedures. Boebert expressed gratitude to Bade and the medical team.

Expected to be discharged on Wednesday afternoon, Boebert shared a photo on Facebook holding her grandson from her hospital bed.

Despite her health setback, Boebert plans to attend the Republican nominating assembly in Pueblo on Friday for Colorado’s 4th District race. Having already qualified for the primary ballot by collecting voter signatures, she aims to secure delegate votes at the assembly, a requirement to advance unless she withdraws.

Known for her fervent support of former President Donald Trump, Boebert, a figure in the MAGA movement, currently represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. However, she’s contesting the Republican primary for the 4th District, vacated by former Representative Ken Buck.

Facing criticism for switching districts and enduring personal challenges, including a public divorce and a widely reported incident at a Denver musical performance, Boebert’s national recognition and Trump’s endorsement are seen as advantages in the primary race.

Should she prevail in the crowded primary, Boebert is poised to secure victory in the general election in the reliably Republican 4th District.
