Remembering Actress Jennifer Leak: From Screen Sister to Beloved Wife

Actress Jennifer Leak, known for her roles in soap operas and the 1968 film “Yours, Mine, and Ours,” passed away on March 18 at her home in Jupiter, Florida, at the age of seventy-six, as reported by The East Hampton Star.

Seven years before her passing, Leak was diagnosed with the rare neurological condition progressive supranuclear palsy, as detailed by The East Hampton Star.

Born on September 28, 1947, in Cardiff, Wales, Leak spent her early years residing in various cities, including Toronto, Jerusalem, Halifax, and Hertfordshire, England.

Her career began in Canada at the age of 17 with an appearance in the pilot of the Canadian television series “Wojeck,” directed by Mike Nichols.

Although initially chosen for a role in “The Graduate” by Nichols, Leak’s immigration status prevented her from participating in the production.

She later moved to Los Angeles, where she quickly landed the role of Lucille Ball’s daughter in the 1968 film “Yours, Mine, and Ours.” It was during this film that Leak met her first husband, Tim Matheson.

The comedy, depicting a blended family with eighteen children, starred Leak and Matheson as step-siblings.

Matheson, now 76, penned a heartfelt tribute to Leak on Facebook following her passing, recalling her as not only his on-screen sister but also his cherished first wife.

The couple, who married in 1968, parted ways in 1971.

In his tribute, Matheson described Leak as a remarkable woman – strong, lovely, and incredibly talented – extending his deepest condolences to her husband of 47 years, James D’Auria, and their many friends.
