Rebel Wilson’s Autobiography Release Delayed Amidst Controversy Over Sacha Baron Cohen Accounts

Actress Rebel Wilson’s autobiography, “Rebel Rising,” faced a delay in its release across the UK and Australia. Originally scheduled for release in Australia on Wednesday and in the UK on Thursday, the book’s debut has been rescheduled to April 25th in the UK.

HarperCollins, the publisher, stated that the decision to adjust the release date was to align with Rebel Wilson’s upcoming press tours. The autobiography has gained attention for Wilson’s recounting of her collaboration with Sacha Baron Cohen.

Wilson’s descriptions in the book regarding her work on Baron Cohen’s 2016 film “Grimsby” stirred controversy. She depicted her experience on set as deeply negative, citing instances of feeling humiliated and sexually harassed. Specifically, she accused Baron Cohen of behaving like a bully and subjecting her to demeaning situations.

Baron Cohen has vehemently denied these allegations, asserting that they are unfounded and contradicted by substantial evidence, including documentation, footage, and witness testimonies.

Adding to the dispute, last week, the Daily Mail released outtake footage from one of the scenes Wilson mentioned in her book. Wilson denounced the release of this footage as unauthorized and misleading, characterizing it as a form of bullying and gaslighting.

Despite the controversy surrounding her book, Wilson is set to embark on a promotional tour, starting in the UK with stops in Edinburgh, Manchester, and London. Subsequently, she will continue her tour in Australia, visiting Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.

During an appearance on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show, Wilson emphasized that her autobiography encompasses a wide range of experiences and isn’t solely focused on her interactions with Baron Cohen. Meanwhile, Baron Cohen, known for his bold and controversial comedic style, has built his career through characters like Ali G and Borat.
