Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Princess of Wales, Kate, 42, underwent a scheduled abdominal surgery at The London Clinic on Tuesday. A spokesperson announced on Wednesday that the procedure was successful, and the princess is anticipated to stay in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before heading home to continue her recuperation.
According to sources from the Palace cited by the Times, the Princess of Wales is reported to be “recovering well” during her hospital stay. The announcement coincided with news that the King is scheduled for hospital treatment next week due to an enlarged prostate, leading to the postponement of his public engagements for a brief period while he recuperates.
In light of the recovery period required following Kate’s surgery, all her planned engagements will be deferred until after Easter, which falls on March 31. William, the heir to the throne, will balance supporting Kate’s recovery with caring for their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Consequently, he has also deferred several of his engagements, and any international travel plans for the prince and princess in the upcoming months have been put on hold.
