On Friday, March 22nd, Kate Middleton shared a video disclosing her cancer diagnosis. Now, the Prince and Princess of Wales have issued a statement expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support and well wishes they’ve received since Kate’s announcement.
In a message released from Kensington Palace, the couple conveyed, “The Prince and Princess are deeply touched by the kind messages received from individuals here in the UK, across the Commonwealth, and around the globe, following Her Royal Highness’ disclosure. They are profoundly moved by the warmth and support from the public and appreciate the understanding regarding their request for privacy during this time.”
In her initial video, the Princess of Wales revealed that following abdominal surgery in January, her condition was initially believed to be non-cancerous. However, subsequent tests revealed the presence of cancer. She explained, “My medical team advised me to undergo preventative chemotherapy, and I am currently in the early stages of treatment. This news was a significant shock, and William and I have been navigating this privately for the sake of our young family. It has taken time to process and manage.” Kate further shared, “The past few months have been incredibly challenging for our family, but I am fortunate to have an excellent medical team caring for me, for which I am deeply grateful.” She added that she is “finding strength each day by focusing on healing mentally, physically, and spiritually.”
The Princess also expressed her appreciation to Prince William for his unwavering support and reassurance during this time.
