Residents in the Gaston Road area of Dartmouth, N.S., have been advised to remain indoors as authorities search for an armed individual.
Halifax Regional Police responded to reports of a man with a firearm allegedly threatening individuals known to him at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
The suspect, described as a white male in his late 40s, about six feet tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with tattoos on both arms and a bald head, fled the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, black t-shirt, jeans, and work boots.
As of 10 a.m., Gaston Road was closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, with a substantial police presence in the vicinity, including K9 units.
Shortly after 10:20 a.m., an emergency alert was issued, urging the public to stay vigilant and avoid approaching the dangerous individual.
