Authorities in Brisbane’s south-west discovered the bodies of a man and woman at a residence on Redhead Street in Doolandella following a welfare check on Tuesday evening. Police suspect the incident may be related to domestic violence but are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Detective Inspector Michael Hogan, the assistant regional crime coordinator, stated that the identities of the deceased individuals had not been officially confirmed. While initially reported as being in their 30s, it was later clarified that the woman was 29 years old.
Hogan emphasized that the investigation was ongoing, including a thorough examination of the crime scene, and refrained from providing further details until the identities were confirmed.
Regarding the possibility of prior domestic violence at the property, Hogan mentioned that it was being looked into but couldn’t be confirmed yet.
The discovery was made after police responded to a welfare call. Forensic teams are expected to continue their work at the property for another day due to the complexity of the investigation.
Neighbors described the area as typically quiet, with little activity observed at the residence. Some mentioned occasional visits by the man, believed to be a tow-truck driver.
At present, authorities are not seeking any suspects but encourage anyone with information to come forward. Hogan assured the community that there was no immediate danger and reiterated the importance of cooperation with the investigation.
