On International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant announcement regarding a reduction in the prices of domestic gas cylinders. He stated that the cost of domestic gas cylinders would be reduced by ₹100, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on numerous households, particularly benefitting women across the nation.
PM Modi emphasized that this decision would especially benefit the women of the country, aiming to ease financial pressures and promote their empowerment. He expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring a healthier environment and supporting families by making cooking gas more affordable.
Furthermore, the Central government announced the extension of the ₹300 per LPG cylinder subsidy to impoverished women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the upcoming fiscal year starting April 1. This move follows the government’s earlier decision to increase the subsidy from ₹200 to ₹300 per 14.2-kg cylinder for up to 12 refills annually, which was implemented for the current fiscal year ending on March 31.
In a message shared on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on International Women’s Day, praising the strength, courage, and resilience of India’s women. He commended their achievements across diverse domains and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to empowering women through initiatives spanning education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, and beyond. PM Modi highlighted the progress made over the past decade, underscoring the commitment to advancing the status and opportunities for women in the country.
