Peon and Doctors Arrested in Pune Porsche Crash Case for Bribery and Blood Sample Manipulation

In a recent development in the Pune Porsche crash case, a peon named Atul Ghatkamble has been arrested alongside two doctors for allegedly manipulating the blood test report of the 17-year-old accused. Sources indicate that Ghatkamble acted as a middleman, delivering a ₹3 lakh bribe from the teen’s family to the doctors.

Dr. Ajay Tawade and Dr. Hari Harnor of Sassoon Hospital were apprehended by the Pune Crime Branch. Investigations have revealed that on the day of the accident, Dr. Tawade and the accused teen’s father had a phone conversation during which the father offered inducements to alter the blood samples. Police disclosed that the father sought to replace the teen’s blood sample to eliminate traces of alcohol.

Dr. Tawade suggested that the minor’s blood sample was swapped with that of a doctor. “I will not keep quiet. I will take everyone’s name,” he reportedly stated during the investigation. It was found that the doctors not only tampered with the blood test report but also falsely cleared the teen in a physical examination without actually conducting it.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that the blood samples sent for forensic testing were not those of the juvenile accused. He explained that on the morning of May 19, the original blood sample taken at Sassoon Hospital was discarded and replaced with another person’s sample under the instructions of Dr. Tawade.

The altered report, received on Sunday, showed no traces of alcohol. However, CCTV footage from a bar the teen visited that night depicted him drinking with friends.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 19 when a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by the 17-year-old, collided with a motorcycle, killing two young IT professionals. The Porsche, reportedly traveling at over 200 km per hour, struck the bike carrying Ashwini and Aneesh, both 24, as they returned home from a party. Ashwini was thrown about 20 feet into the air, while Aneesh collided with a parked car, sustaining fatal injuries. Both died instantly.
