Police have confirmed an investigation into footage that surfaced showing NRL journalist Paul Kent allegedly involved in a brawl with a group of men outside a venue in Sydney’s inner west. The video, widely circulated on social media, captures Kent apparently exchanging blows with another man outside Totti’s in Rozelle. NSW Police stated that the incident occurred on Evans Street around 11:20 pm the previous night, with officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command gathering CCTV footage as part of their investigation.
In the video, amidst a heated argument, the men can be heard insulting each other, with attempts from security and other patrons to intervene. The altercation escalates, concluding with Kent charging at another man before being thrown upside down into the base of a tree. Fox Sports and News Corp Australia have jointly announced that the 54-year-old journalist has been temporarily suspended pending an immediate investigation.
This incident follows just six months after Kent was acquitted of charges related to assaulting and choking a woman with whom he had an on-and-off relationship. The charges stemmed from an altercation at a residence in Sydney’s inner west in May of the previous year, where he was accused of grabbing the woman by the throat during a dispute over his mobile phone.
