Nothing, the UK-based OEM, has unveiled the design of its much-anticipated smartphone, the Nothing Phone 2a, ahead of its launch in India scheduled for March 5. This revelation comes after the company recently confirmed key specifications such as the System-on-Chip (SoC) details, hinting at an exciting upgrade over its predecessor, the Nothing Phone 1.
In a promotional video shared on X by Nothing, the Phone 2a is showcased in a striking white color variant, consistent with the brand’s aesthetic of transparent rear panels. Notably, the rear design has undergone a redesign, distinguishing it from the earlier iterations like Phone 2 and Phone 1.
The Phone 2a boasts a sleek, modern look with its dual rear camera setup housed within a pill-shaped module at the top center of the back panel. Surrounding this module are LED units, integral to Nothing’s signature Glyph Interface, arranged in circular arcs and vertically on the right-hand side, adding a distinctive touch to the device’s aesthetics.
Under the hood, the Nothing Phone 2a is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC, ensuring 5G support. This powerful chipset is expected to be coupled with 12GB of RAM, with an additional 8GB of virtual RAM for enhanced performance. It’s worth noting that Nothing’s CEO, Carl Pei, has confirmed that units sold in India will be locally manufactured, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The Phone 2a is anticipated to launch in black and white color variants, catering to different aesthetic preferences. Priced at approximately Rs. 30,000 in India, it aims to strike a balance between affordability and cutting-edge features. The device is rumored to run on Android 14-based NothingOS 2.5 out of the box and is expected to feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz full-HD+ OLED display, two 50-megapixel rear cameras, and a 32-megapixel front camera. Additionally, leaks suggest a substantial 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging, ensuring prolonged usage without compromising on convenience.
