LA DA Responds to Disturbing 2016 Video Allegedly Showing Sean “Diddy” Combs Assaulting Cassie Ventura

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office addressed the release of a 2016 hotel surveillance video on Friday, which purportedly shows Sean “Diddy” Combs violently attacking his former partner Cassie Ventura. The video, which has sparked widespread concern and outrage, appears to depict Combs kicking, shoving, and dragging Ventura.

The office of Los Angeles DA George Gascon took to social media to acknowledge the circulating footage. They stated, “We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles.” The DA’s office described the images as “extremely disturbing and difficult to watch.”

Despite the disturbing nature of the video, the DA’s office clarified that they would not be able to pursue charges against Combs due to the incident occurring outside the statute of limitations for prosecuting an assault. “If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge,” the DA’s office explained.

DA Gascon’s office further noted that law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs. However, they encouraged anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or contact their office directly.

The release of the video coincides with a federal lawsuit filed by Cassie Ventura against Sean Combs last year. Although the lawsuit has since been settled, the footage obtained by CNN aligns with Ventura’s allegations of physical abuse detailed in her legal complaint.

In the video, Combs is seen running after Ventura, who is standing in front of an elevator bank, while wearing only a towel. He then aggressively grabs and drags her down before kicking her and picking up her luggage. The video also shows Combs dragging Ventura on the floor back to a hotel room as she attempts to protect her head.

This incident has renewed public attention on the serious allegations against Combs and the broader issues of domestic violence and accountability.
