Speculation surrounding the next James Bond has been put to rest as insiders reveal that British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to don the famous 007 persona, succeeding Daniel Craig’s 15-year tenure.
According to sources cited by The Sun, Taylor-Johnson, renowned for his role in Kick-Ass, is anticipated to accept the offer, marking a significant transition for the franchise. “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table, and they are waiting to hear back,” stated an insider. The impending announcement is expected to follow once the contract is finalized.
Despite delays caused by Hollywood strikes last year, insiders confirm that preparations for the next Bond installment are underway, with production slated to commence at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
Taylor-Johnson’s suitability for the role has been a topic of discussion since 2022 when he underwent secretive screen tests for Bond movie producer Barbra Broccoli at Pinewood Studios. His diverse acting portfolio, including standout performances like his portrayal of a psychopath in Nocturnal Animals, which earned him a Golden Globe, has solidified his candidacy.
Commenting on the speculation, Taylor-Johnson expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”
As the franchise moves forward following Craig’s departure post-No Time To Die, Taylor-Johnson’s portrayal of Bond promises to maintain the legacy while introducing fresh dynamics to the beloved character. With the previous installment raking in £600 million, anticipation is high for the next chapter in the iconic spy series.
