On Monday, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, broke her silence regarding the recent controversy surrounding a photo released by the royal family on Mother’s Day. In a personal apology, she addressed the confusion that arose from the family photograph shared by Kensington Palace.
“As an amateur photographer, I sometimes experiment with editing. I want to express my sincere apologies for any confusion caused by the family photograph we shared yesterday. I hope everyone celebrating had a wonderful Mother’s Day,” said Kate Middleton.
The UK royal family faced scrutiny over whether the first picture of the Princess of Wales following her abdominal surgery had been digitally altered. This led major news agencies like PA, the Associated Press, and Reuters to issue a “kill notice,” requesting their clients to remove the image from all platforms.
The palace clarified that the photo was taken by Prince William, the Prince of Wales.
The controversy erupted amidst concerns about Kate Middleton’s health post-surgery, as well as worries about King Charles III’s battle with cancer. Both have been absent from public appearances.
The photo in question features the princess and her three children – George, Charlotte, and Louis – credited to Prince William. It was captioned: “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months.”
