The renowned rapper, formerly known as Kanye West, made an appearance on Justin LaBoy’s The Download podcast to unveil his dynamic verse on the remix of “Like That,” featuring Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar. In a snippet shared on Instagram by Ye on Saturday, the 46-year-old artist exudes enthusiasm as he previews a segment of his fiery remix with LaBoy.
Ye’s verse kicks off with a nod to Lamar’s ongoing feud with Drake, declaring, “You know we had to shake things up to put these adversaries in their place.” He then proceeds to directly target Drake and J. Cole, delivering cutting lines such as, “You’re so easily forgotten, I can’t even recall a memorable Drake lyric / Play a J. Cole track, and watch the vibe dry up / Replay this verse a hundred and thirty times.”
As of Sunday, the complete version of Ye’s remix had not yet been officially released on streaming platforms.
Lamar and Drake’s feud escalated with Lamar’s explosive verse on “Like That,” which shook the hip-hop scene and currently holds the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In his verse, Lamar takes veiled shots at both Drake and J. Cole, adding fuel to the ongoing tension.
Ye’s remix of “Like That” follows recent responses from Drake, who dropped his diss track “Push Ups” on streaming services on Friday, followed by the release of “Taylor Made Freestyle” later that same evening on social media. In “Taylor Made Freestyle,” Drake employs AI-generated verses in the style of Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg to further provoke Lamar, who has yet to respond to “Push Ups.”
