Justin Timberlake marked the arrival of his anticipated “Everything I Thought It Was” era in style at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, held at Los Angeles’ iconic Dolby Theatre on Monday night (April 1).
The superstar kicked off the evening by captivating the audience with an intimate performance of his lead single from EITIW, “Selfish.” Seated on a metal barrel alongside one of his band members, Timberlake delivered a heartfelt rendition of the romantic track, showcasing his musical prowess with an acoustic guitar.
Transitioning seamlessly into high gear, Timberlake then took center stage with his full band for a spirited performance of the sultry track “No Angels.” Set against a backdrop reminiscent of the Wild West, complete with cacti, a vibrant sunset, and saloon props, the performance electrified the audience.
“Selfish” debuted impressively at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Timberlake’s highest debut in six years on the prestigious chart. The album also features a highly anticipated reunion from *NSYNC, with the track “Paradise,” which was performed live by the band during Timberlake’s exclusive one-night-only concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles the previous month.
The star-studded lineup for the awards ceremony included performances by Green Day, TLC, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Tate McRae, and the evening’s host Ludacris. The event celebrated the most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and the iHeartRadio app throughout the year. Beyoncé was honored with the Innovator Award, while Cher received the Icon Award. Additionally, Green Day and TLC were recognized with the iHeartRadio Landmark Awards, adding to the excitement of the night.
