John Harbaugh Encourages Travis Kelce to Retire and Start a Family with Taylor Swift

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh didn’t hold back when he encouraged Travis Kelce to retire and start a family with Taylor Swift. Harbaugh expressed his hope that the Chiefs tight end and the 14-time Grammy winner would tie the knot “pretty soon,” reducing the threat in the AFC.

“I hope they get married,” Harbaugh said in a recent interview with Us Weekly. “I hope they have a bunch of kids. Heck, maybe he’ll get ready to retire here pretty soon to pursue that family aspect of his life. I would encourage that.” Harbaugh, 61, added that he’s “rooting for them,” describing the couple’s whirlwind romance as the “coolest thing ever.”

The Ravens will kick off the 2024-25 regular season against Kelce and the Chiefs on Sept. 5 in Kansas City. Swift might attend the AFC Championship rematch — the Chiefs beat the Ravens 17-10 to reach Super Bowl 2024 — as her Eras Tour will be on hiatus then.

Swift, whose next shows are in London at the end of August, has a break until October when her North American dates resume. She made her first public appearance at a Chiefs game last September, cheering with Kelce’s mother, Donna, during a 41-10 win over the Bears. The couple went public with their relationship the following month, holding hands in New York City.

“I couldn’t say I’m a Taylor Swift fan because I don’t know enough of the songs,” said Harbaugh, entering his 17th season as Ravens head coach. “But the songs I’ve heard from my daughter over the years, I like ‘em. I think they’re excellent. I think she’s so talented. When you watch her perform, oh my god, it’s sick how talented she is.”

Kelce and Swift, both 34, have been the center of engagement rumors for some time. In December, Page Six reported that the three-time Super Bowl champ received her father Scott Swift’s blessing to propose. Kelce followed Swift on tour after the Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime Super Bowl win over the 49ers in February. Swift attended the big game in Las Vegas and joined Kelce at the Chiefs’ afterparties, along with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany. She is currently on tour in Europe.
