Jason Kelce regrets his retirement after Eagles get Saquon Barkley said ‘I want to be a part of this so bad’

Jason Kelce hasn’t retired for a month yet, and he’s already feeling some regret after seeing the Philadelphia Eagles make significant moves in free agency, particularly the deal for Saquon Barkley.

During the latest episode of Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the former Eagles center admitted to having conflicting thoughts about Barkley’s agreement with the team. The deal spans three years with a maximum value of $46.76 million.

Kelce acknowledged Barkley’s signing as a significant move for Philadelphia and expressed happiness for Barkley. However, he couldn’t help but feel conflicted, noting that Barkley was joining a team with a well-established offensive line. Kelce highlighted the role of run game coordinator Jeff Stoutland, the Eagles’ longest-tenured coach, in helping Barkley integrate quickly into the squad.

Travis pointed out the abundance of Pro Bowl players on the Eagles’ offensive side, suggesting that this could bolster their chances of making a Super Bowl run. Jason, however, couldn’t contain his feelings of regret. He expressed his bullishness about the team’s prospects, lamenting that he retired just as the Eagles were poised for an outstanding season. Despite his desire to be part of the team, Kelce acknowledged that retirement was the right decision for him.

Eagles fans have inundated Kelce with messages on social media, urging him to reconsider retirement and return for another season. While Kelce appreciates the support, he remains firm in his decision to retire. He joked about Roseman’s timing, making significant moves after his retirement.

Kelce reiterated that retirement was a decision he had been considering for some time, especially after the disappointing end of the 2023 season. Despite not being on the field, Kelce remains a devoted fan of the Eagles, excited to watch and celebrate the team’s success.

The Eagles have already made an exciting start to the new season, bringing in dynamic players like edge rusher Bryce Huff, re-signing Brandon Graham, and welcoming back safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Kelce may no longer be playing, but he looks forward to supporting his team as a passionate Philadelphian.
