James Anderson Achieves Historic Milestone with 700 Test Wickets

England’s James Anderson etched his name in cricket history by becoming the first seamer to reach the remarkable milestone of 700 Test wickets. His achievement was realized during Day 3 of the fifth Test match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium when he dismissed Kuldeep Yadav.

At 41 years old, Anderson now stands just behind legendary spinners Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800) in the list of all-time leading wicket-takers in Test cricket.

Having played 187 Tests, Anderson boasts an impressive average of 26.52. His dominance extends both at home and abroad, with 434 wickets taken in England and 266 in overseas matches. Notably, Anderson’s performance in the Ashes series has been outstanding, claiming 117 wickets, with 68 of them in Australia, making it his most successful foreign ground.

Anderson’s journey began in 2003 when he made his debut against Zimbabwe at Lord’s, claiming his first Test wicket against Mark Vermuelen. Since then, he has remained a stalwart of the England bowling attack, consistently delivering match-winning performances.

While renowned for his Test exploits, Anderson also had a noteworthy limited-overs career, featuring in 194 one-day internationals for England between 2002 and 2015, where he picked up 269 wickets. Additionally, he contributed with 19 dismissals in 18 T20 internationals, showcasing his versatility across formats.
