Israeli Military Withdraws from Gaza’s Largest Hospital After Two-Week Raid, Leaving Devastation Behind

The Israeli military completed its withdrawal from Gaza’s largest hospital early Monday following a two-week raid, as reported by Palestinian residents. The military characterized the operation at Shifa Hospital as highly successful, claiming to have eliminated numerous Hamas and other militant operatives, including senior figures, while also seizing weapons and valuable intelligence.

The United Nations health agency expressed concern over the impact of the raid, noting that several patients had died and many others were put at risk in a facility that had already been severely impaired in its ability to function. Mohammed Mahdi, among the returning Palestinians, described scenes of extensive devastation, citing multiple buildings burned down and the discovery of bodies, including some within the hospital courtyard.

Video footage circulating online depicted significant damage to structures, evidence of bulldozing activity, and patients being evacuated through dimly lit corridors.
