Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi embarked on a three-day diplomatic visit to Pakistan on Monday, against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East.
This visit follows recent cross-border airstrikes between Iran and Pakistan, underscoring the significance of Raisi’s engagement with Pakistan. The Iranian leader is accompanied by a notable delegation, including his spouse, senior cabinet members, and a sizable business contingent.
Notably, Raisi’s visit marks the first by a head of state to Pakistan since the country’s general elections in February 2024, highlighting the importance of bilateral relations.
During his stay, President Raisi is scheduled to hold discussions with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani, and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Sadiq. Additionally, he will visit Lahore and Karachi to engage with provincial leadership.
