The Karnataka government is actively pursuing leads in the aftermath of a bomb blast at a café in Bengaluru on March 1, which left ten individuals injured. While expressing confidence in the swift apprehension of the perpetrators based on CCTV footage, authorities have refrained from attributing the incident to any specific organization at this stage.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda has confirmed that the investigation has been escalated to the Central Crime Branch, with multiple teams diligently following various leads. As part of the probe, four individuals have been detained for questioning in Dharwad, Hubballi, and Bengaluru.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has emphasized the utilization of technology to unravel the truth behind the blast and instructed law enforcement to expedite the investigation. He assured the public that the culprit’s movements, captured on camera from alighting a bus to setting a timer at the café, will aid in their swift identification.
Regarding the similarity between this incident and the 2022 pressure cooker blast in Mangaluru, the Chief Minister has acknowledged ongoing investigations into any potential connections. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has suggested a possible link between the two incidents based on similarities in materials used and the presence of timers.
In Mangaluru, a similar improvised explosive device (IED) blast occurred in 2022, revealing connections to Islamic State and Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives. The current investigation involves analyzing CCTV footage from public transport buses and scrutinizing suspects’ movements captured near the café.
Home Minister G Parameshwara has highlighted the meticulous analysis of CCTV footage, particularly from buses, as a crucial aspect of the investigation. While various theories are being explored, including personal motives or organizational involvement, authorities remain committed to uncovering the truth and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Official sources remain optimistic about the progress of the investigation, citing captured footage of the suspect’s movements as a significant lead. As the probe continues, the government assures the public of thorough scrutiny of all angles to ensure accountability for the blast at the café.
