India’s Potential Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Taking Shape: Pant, Rahul, and Dube in the Mix

Sources from the BCCI selection committee suggest that for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are poised to secure spots as wicketkeepers, with Shivam Dube likely to join them in the squad, citing his impressive performance in the shortest format over recent years. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar held discussions with Rohit Sharma following the 43rd match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2024 regarding the squad selection.

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of DC, has showcased remarkable form in the ongoing IPL 2024, accumulating 371 runs in 10 matches at an impressive average of 46.38 and a striking rate of 160.60. His stellar performance places him fourth in the race for the orange cap in this edition of the tournament.

KL Rahul, leading the Lucknow Super Giants, stands as the third-highest run-scorer in IPL 2024, amassing 378 runs in nine matches with an average of 42 and a striking rate of 144.27.

Meanwhile, Shivam Dube has been in blistering form this season, emerging as a pivotal player for CSK and bolstering his case for a spot in the T20 World Cup squad. With 311 runs in eight matches at an impressive average of 51.83 and a striking rate of 169.94, including three half-centuries and a high score of 66*, Dube has been a standout performer for his franchise.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in the USA and West Indies, commences on June 1. Team India will begin their campaign on June 5 against Ireland, followed by a highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on June 9, with both matches scheduled at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
