Indian Army Engages Suspected Pakistani Drone Near LoC, BSF Recovers Drone in Punjab

Late on Saturday night, Indian Army troops reportedly engaged a suspected Pakistani drone near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. The drone, as per PTI reports citing officials, briefly entered Indian airspace before retreating to the Pakistani side.

Following the incident, a thorough search was conducted in the Keri sector of Rajouri, where the drone was spotted, but no suspicious items were discovered on the ground. While concerns persist regarding the potential use of drones by anti-national elements to smuggle contraband into Indian territory, security forces assured their preparedness to counter such threats effectively.

In another development, a flying object with a blinking light was sighted in the sky near Allahpir area of Poonch district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Authorities, including police and security forces, conducted a search operation in the area but found no evidence of any object on the ground.

Meanwhile, in Punjab’s Amritsar district, the Border Security Forces (BSF) recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone of Chinese origin from a harvested field in village Havelian. Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF troops launched a search operation, resulting in the successful recovery of the drone.

This marks the second such incident within a span of two days, following the previous recovery of a drone suspected to be carrying heroin. The BSF statement confirmed that on May 11, troops intercepted a small drone carrying a packet of suspected heroin near the border area of Amritsar.

The recovered packet, weighing approximately 498 grams, was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and had a torch and nylon loop attached to it. The drone itself was identified as a quadcopter model DJI Mavic 3 Classic, manufactured in China.

These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in monitoring and intercepting illicit drone activities along the border, necessitating continuous vigilance and proactive measures to safeguard national security.
