In this month’s Hundred draft, overseas cricket stars such as David Warner, Kane Williamson, Meg Lanning, and Smriti Mandhana are up for grabs. Warner, known for withdrawing from the competition twice before, is priced at £100,000 (US$127,000), while Williamson, previously signed by Birmingham Phoenix but unable to play due to injury, is available for £75,000 (US$95,000).
Among the women’s draft, Mandhana is among the top-tier players with a reserve price of £50,000 (US$63,500), along with Ashleigh Gardner, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma. Lanning, who has opted out in the past, is listed at £40,000 (US$50,500), along with Beth Mooney and Annabel Sutherland. Fifteen Indian players, including Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh, and Shikha Pandey, are also in contention.
In the men’s draft, seven players are in the highest price band of £125,000 (US$158,500), including Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, Josh Inglis, and Daryl Mitchell. Kieron Pollard, Shamar Joseph, Sikandar Raza, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Naseem Shah are priced at £100,000.
Several England players, including Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, Ollie Pope, Amy Jones, and Lauren Filer, are also in the mix. Malan, a previous winner with Trent Rockets, may be retained by them using their Right-to-Match card.
The draft, featuring 890 names, will take place on March 20 at the Shard in London and will be broadcasted on YouTube, TikTok, and the Hundred website. Birmingham Phoenix will have the first pick in the women’s draft, while Northern Superchargers will start the men’s draft. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu, fresh from being named Player of the Tournament at the 2023-24 WBBL, is eager to join the Hundred for the first time, expressing excitement about the opportunity to be part of such a prestigious competition.
