At the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and broadcast live on NBC, Peacock, and E!, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were both honored as winners. Swift secured an impressive four awards, including Female Artist, Pop Artist, Concert Tour, and Social Celebrity, while Kelce clinched the Athlete of the Year title.
The event, hosted by actor and author Simu Liu, saw Olivia Rodrigo, Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, and Jimmy Fallon each receiving two awards. Rodrigo triumphed in the Song category with “Vampire” and Album with “Guts”, while Minaj snagged Hip-Hop Artist and Collaboration Song for “Barbie World,” a track featuring Ice Spice and Aqua. Ice Spice also claimed the New Artist award, and Fallon celebrated victories for Nighttime Talk Show (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) and Host (That’s My Jam).
Several Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers also found recognition in TV categories. Billie Eilish secured the TV Performance award for “Swarm”, Selena Gomez earned Female TV Star for her role in Only Murders in the Building, and Kelly Clarkson’s The Kelly Clarkson Show won Daytime Talk Show.
The film “Barbie” emerged as a major winner, clinching five awards, including Movie, Comedy Movie, and Male and Female Movie Stars (Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie). Robbie’s win served as a modest compensation for her Oscar nomination snub. Similarly, Ice Spice’s victory as a New Artist helped alleviate the disappointment of a Grammy loss in the same category.
Other notable winners included “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” for Action Movie and Rachel Zegler for Action Movie Star. “Only Murders in the Building”, “The Last of Us”, and “The Kardashians” each took home two awards, with Jennifer Aniston presenting the Comedy Icon Award to Adam Sandler, and Victoria Monét honoring Lenny Kravitz with the Music Icon Award.
The event expanded to 45 categories this year, encompassing movies, television, music, and pop culture, introducing five new categories: Male Country Artists, Female Country Artists, Male Latin Artists, Female Latin Artists, and Concert Tour. Country and Latin music genres featured separate awards for male and female artists, while pop, hip-hop, and R&B categories were gender-neutral.
Produced by Den of Thieves, with Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager, and Barb Bialkowski serving as executive producers, the 2024 People’s Choice Awards celebrated the best in entertainment and culture.
