A private helicopter, en route to pick up Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Sushma Andhare, tragically crashed during its landing attempt, officials reported on Friday. The incident unfolded as captured in a live video shared by Andhare herself. In the footage, the helicopter can be seen making its descent at an unidentified location, only to suddenly swerve, wobble, and lose balance, ultimately crashing with a resounding impact and kicking up a cloud of dust upon hitting the open ground.
Fortunately, the pilot of the helicopter managed to leap from the aircraft and survived the ordeal. However, the white-and-blue hired rotary-winger sustained significant damage in the crash, which occurred in Mahad town, located in Raigad.
In response to the emergency, police and rescue teams swiftly mobilized to the crash site to initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Meanwhile, a shaken Andhare, who was originally scheduled to board the same helicopter, opted to proceed to her scheduled election meetings across various parts of the district via car, undoubtedly reflecting on the harrowing experience.
