Early Sunday morning at 5 am, Mumbai Police reported that two unidentified individuals on a motorbike opened fire outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra. Three rounds of gunfire were reported outside the Galaxy Apartments, prompting the arrival of Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch for investigation.
Forensic science experts also joined the investigation at the scene, as efforts to identify the perpetrators commenced. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde engaged in a telephone conversation with Khan, advocating for heightened security measures for the actor.
Amidst increased security outside Khan’s home, CCTV footage is being collected to aid in identifying the assailants. However, neither the police nor Khan’s family has issued an official statement regarding the actor’s presence during the incident.
In response to the gunfire, Siv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey criticized the government’s handling of law and order, citing recent incidents of violence in Mumbai and Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Bollywood actress Pooja Bhatt condemned the incident, highlighting the need for stricter surveillance in Bandra.
This isn’t the first instance of threats against Khan. In March last year, an FIR was registered against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, along with another individual, following an e-mail threat received at Khan’s office. Additionally, in June 2022, Khan was threatened via a handwritten note by an unidentified individual.
