In a disturbing turn of events, Greater Manchester Police made a gruesome discovery of a headless human torso wrapped in plastic at Kersal Wetlands in Salford on Thursday evening. The victim, a 40-year-old man who had been deceased for several days, was found in the secluded wooded area.
A comprehensive investigation, involving canine units, search teams, and forensic specialists, has been launched, treating the case as a homicide. While authorities continue to scour the area for additional body parts, nothing further has been uncovered thus far. However, a postmortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
Chief Superintendent Tony Creely, Salford district commander, addressed the media in a press conference, expressing the swift progression of the tragic investigation. He emphasized the importance of identifying the victim to provide support to his grieving family during this distressing time.
“We are utilizing all available forensic techniques to promptly identify the victim and offer assistance to his loved ones,” Creely stated, noting that the gender of the victim has yet to be confirmed by authorities.
