Donald Trump, the former President, and presumptive Republican nominee, has entered the commercial sphere once again, this time with a venture selling Bibles. In a video shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump urges his supporters to purchase the “God Bless the USA Bible,” inspired by Lee Greenwood’s patriotic anthem, a song often played at his rallies. Available for $59.99, the Bible includes not only the King James Version but also key American documents and a handwritten chorus of Greenwood’s song.
Facing financial challenges due to mounting legal fees from various legal battles, including criminal indictments and civil charges, Trump sees this venture as both a business opportunity and a way to rally support. He emphasizes the importance of prayer and claims that “all Americans need a Bible in their home.” Despite the commercial nature of the endeavor, the website insists it’s not politically affiliated with Trump’s campaign.
This isn’t Trump’s first foray into commercial ventures while in the political arena. Previously, he launched Trump-branded sneakers and explored NFTs (nonfungible tokens). The Bible venture, much like his other enterprises, operates under licensing agreements with Trump-associated companies.
Trump’s move to sell Bibles might raise eyebrows given his past controversies, including missteps in referencing scripture during his 2016 campaign and the divisive use of a Bible during his presidency. Nevertheless, his enduring popularity with white evangelical Christians could drive sales despite criticisms of his behavior conflicting with religious teachings.
