A blast rocked the renowned Rameshwaram Cafe in Whitefield, Bengaluru, on Friday, sending shockwaves through the food blogging community. This beloved eatery, often hailed as an “iconic” spot by food enthusiasts nationwide, has now become the center of attention for a different reason.
News of the fire at this popular establishment has quickly spread across the internet, with social media platforms flooded with videos capturing the chaotic scene outside the Rameshwaram Cafe during the explosion. Netizens have been sharing footage of the large crowd gathered outside the cafe at the time of the incident.
A suspected cylinder explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe in Kundanahalli sparked a fire, leaving at least five individuals injured, as confirmed by the police. While the exact count of casualties remains undisclosed, authorities have reported that five people have been hospitalized following the incident.
The cafe gained widespread attention recently when Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan shared photos of himself posing with a plate of South Indian cuisine against the backdrop of Rameshwaram Cafe. Aaryan’s Instagram post went viral, as he expressed his desire to become a food blogger after visiting the “delicious and iconic eateries” in Bangalore.
Described as a “Premium Veg Dakshin Bharatiya Cafe” on its Instagram page, Rameshwaram Cafe boasts multiple locations in Bengaluru, including Indiranagar, JP Nagar, Brookfield, and Rajajinagar, as well as one in Madhapur, Hyderabad. The cafe is owned by Mr. Raghavendra Rao and Chartered Accountant (CA) Divya Raghavendra Rao.
According to the cafe’s website, its uniqueness lies in consistent taste and quality across all outlets, operating from 6:30 AM to 1 AM daily, catering to diverse clientele.
The cafe has garnered positive reviews from food bloggers, with one praising its “best Podi Idli ever” and urging visitors to not miss out on the experience. Another social media user hailed it as the “best South Indian food” they had tasted in Bengaluru, despite the crowded and compact space.
