Hip-hop witnesses the end of a legendary romance as Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley announce their divorce via a joint statement on their social media platforms.
“In mutual understanding, after a period of separation, we have chosen to part ways. Our decision is made with gratitude for the time shared together,” their Instagram stories conveyed. “We are blessed with two wonderful daughters whom we will continue to co-parent. We ask for privacy and respect during this transition.”
The couple tied the knot in 2019 and are parents to Kensli, 7, and Marli, 4.
In March 2019, Chance, originally Chancelor Bennett, reminisced on their meeting, which occurred during an office party his mother hosted in 2003. At the age of nine, he was struck by Kirsten’s charm as she performed with two other girls, yet he was too shy to approach her.
Reflecting on the moment, Chance shared how his father encouraged him to dance, but he opted to remain in the background, silently admiring Kirsten. Sixteen years later, fate brought them together at their wedding, fulfilling his destiny to dance with his beloved wife.
Their love story, once celebrated, now takes a different turn, marking the end of a significant chapter in hip-hop history.
