Eid Al Fitr 2024 Confirmed: Saudi Arabia Sets April 10 as Celebration Date

Saudi Arabia’s Islamic authorities have confirmed that Eid Al Fitr 2024 will commence on April 10, as the moon was not sighted tonight, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the tenth month, Shawwal, in the Islamic calendar.

With this announcement, Ramadan in Saudi Arabia concludes after 30 days, with March 11 being declared as the first day of the holy month. Schools will observe a holiday from March 29 to April 8, with classes resuming on April 15.

For the private and nonprofit sectors, there will be a four-day Eid Al Fitr holiday starting from April 8.

Traditionally, Eid Al Fitr celebrations begin with morning prayers followed by family gatherings for breakfast. In the Middle East, these gatherings often involve gift exchanges among family members, with children typically donning new clothes for the occasion.

Several other countries, including Morocco, are expected to announce April 10 as the official start of Eid Al Fitr after sighting the crescent moon. Morocco is set to confirm the feast date today.
