Lee Siegfried, famously known as “Crazy Cabbie” among fans of “The Howard Stern Show,” has passed away at the age of 55, as reported by multiple sources. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
In a podcast appearance dating back to 2021, Siegfried shared about his battles with health issues, revealing that he was wheelchair-bound and diagnosed with autoimmune disorders like Guillain-Barre syndrome and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.
Cane Peterson, a radio host, and DJ, posted a tribute to Siegfried on his Facebook page, confirming Siegfried’s passing on Easter Sunday. Peterson expressed that Siegfried, surrounded by his beloved partner Lexi, passed away peacefully at 7:09 pm. He mentioned Siegfried’s sharp wit, zest for life, and compassionate heart, reminiscing about their bond as brothers.
Originally from Minnesota, Siegfried made a name for himself as a DJ for 92.3 K-Rock in New York and various other stations, including prominent ones in the Twin Cities. His moniker “Crazy Cabbie” stemmed from his early radio days on “The Andy Savage Show” in Minneapolis, later transitioning to the “KQRS Morning Show” when Howard Stern’s program arrived in the area.
Siegfried gained fame as a recurring guest on Stern’s show, engaging in various antics such as boxing matches, facing off against “Wack Pack” member Angry Black, and former Stern Show personality “Stuttering” John Melendez.
This news follows the passing of Al Rosenberg, a writer and performer on “The Howard Stern Show,” who died at 78 less than a year ago. Additionally, Stern’s longtime friend and stylist Ralph Cirella, from Jersey City, passed away in December at the age of 58.
