Bhuvan Bam, the comedian-actor, is reprising his role as Vasant Gawde in Season 2 of the Disney+ Hotstar comedy-drama series “Taaza Khabar,” as announced by the streaming platform alongside a brief teaser.
In the teaser, Vasant is depicted staring at his phone, shocked to read a news headline reporting his own murder under the title “Taaza Khabar.” The character, a former sanitation worker turned businessman, seems to become a victim of his ability to foresee the future, as hinted in the 40-second clip.
The teaser proceeds to portray scenes of Vasant’s friends and family mourning his demise, gathered around his burning pyre. Bhuvan Bam’s voiceover reflects on the strange nature of life, suggesting that sometimes life begins anew from death. The teaser culminates with the announcement of the show’s second season, although the premiere date is yet to be disclosed.
“Taaza Khabar,” created by Abbas and Hussain Dalal, garnered acclaim in 2023 for its blend of comedy and intense rags-to-riches narrative.
