Buffalo Bills Trade Stefon Diggs to Houston Texans: Shakeup in the NFL’s Receiving Landscape

Stefon Diggs finds himself traded for the second time in his career, this time from the Buffalo Bills to the Houston Texans. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports that along with Diggs, the Bills are sending a 2024 sixth-round pick (No. 189) and a 2025 fifth-round pick, in exchange for a second-round selection in 2025.

In his time with the Bills, Diggs consistently surpassed the 1,100-yard receiving mark, shining alongside quarterback Josh Allen, especially in his first season where he led the NFL with 127 catches and 1,535 yards. His departure leaves a significant void in Buffalo’s receiving corps, with the team now relying on a mix of Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, K.J. Hamler, and Justin Shorter as Allen’s top targets.

For the Texans, acquiring Diggs is a substantial move, bolstering their offense alongside quarterback C.J. Stroud. Teaming up with receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Diggs forms one of the most formidable receiving trios in the NFL. His ability to excel in one-on-one matchups and create separation off the line adds a reliable veteran presence for Stroud to lean on. This addition, combined with tight end Dalton Schultz and a solid offensive line, strengthens the Texans’ offensive firepower heading into the 2024 season.

Credit is due to general manager Nick Caserio for capitalizing on opportunities to support their young Pro Bowl quarterback, setting Stroud up for continued success following an impressive rookie campaign.
