In September of last year, Rizwan, along with seven other players and officials, faced charges by the ICC on behalf of the ECB, acting as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official. Among those implicated was Nasir Hossain, a Bangladesh international who is currently serving a two-year ban.
Rizwan has been found guilty of five violations of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code for Participants, all linked to the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League.
Rizwan failed to respond to the charges against him, resulting in a waiver of his right to a hearing and automatic guilt of the offenses.

The ban imposed on Rizwan is backdated to 19 September 2023 when he was initially provisionally suspended for these offenses.
“Rizwan Javed has been handed a significant ban from cricket due to his repeated and serious attempts to corrupt professional cricketers,” stated Alex Marshall, ICC General Manager of Integrity.
“This sanction serves as a clear warning to other individuals seeking to corrupt cricket at any level. It underscores that any efforts to corrupt the sport will face strong consequences.”
