Cam Newton, former NFL MVP, found himself in the midst of a brawl during a 7-on-7 football event over the weekend. The incident, captured in viral social media videos, showed Newton engaged in an altercation with several individuals reportedly from Top Shelf Performance, participants in the “We Ball Sports” tournament in Atlanta.
The confrontation, which involved Newton’s “C1N” 7v7 team, began under a pop-up tent on the football field before spilling over to a nearby fence. Despite efforts to intervene, the scuffle escalated briefly until security intervened, dispersing the crowd.
Notably, Newton’s attire in the altercation matched that seen in Instagram Stories from his “C1N” team account. The altercation may have been linked to a previous video where Newton offered to pay players from opposing teams if they defeated his own, a statement that garnered attention from TopShelf Performance.
Steph Brown, TopShelf Performance’s general manager, took to Instagram to address the incident, calling out Newton and referencing their victory over his team in the tournament. Despite requests for comments, neither Steph Brown nor TJ Brown, CEO of TopShelf Performance, provided immediate responses.
