Ayesha Curry has raised concerns about the language used in the medical field regarding pregnancies in women in their 30s. In an interview with Sweet July Magazine, she expressed frustration over the term “geriatric pregnancy” being applied to women in their 30s, including herself at the age of 34, stating that it feels alarming and inaccurate.
She emphasized the need for a more nuanced conversation around women’s ages and childbirth, particularly as more women are choosing to start families later in life. Ayesha suggested that the narrative surrounding pregnancy should be shifted to reflect the reality of modern motherhood.
It’s worth noting that according to medical standards, a pregnancy is typically considered “geriatric” when the pregnant individual is 35 or older. However, Ayesha argues that this label is outdated and fails to acknowledge the increasing trend of women delaying childbirth.
Ayesha Curry and her husband, Steph, have been together since their teenage years and have three children together: Riley, Ryan, and Canon. Despite the challenges of balancing family and career, Ayesha emphasizes the importance of showing up for what matters most in life.
