In a humiliating conclusion to their one-day international series in Canberra on Tuesday, Australia decimated a hapless West Indies side by eight wickets, needing only 6.5 overs to chase down their meager target. Jake Fraser-McGurk stole the spotlight with a blistering 41 off just 18 balls, showcasing his immense talent in only his second match.

Australia had already sealed the series with victories in the first two matches in Melbourne and Sydney, but the West Indies, playing for pride, faced a disastrous outing after Australia’s captain, Steve Smith, elected to bowl on a humid day. The West Indies collapsed to a paltry 86 all out in the 25th over, despite Australia’s notable absence of key bowlers Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc.

Xavier Bartlett, backed by his impressive debut performance in Melbourne, once again shone with the ball, claiming 4-21. Lance Morris, before leaving the field with an injury, contributed with 2-13. Bartlett struck early, removing Kjorn Ottley for eight, while Morris made a significant breakthrough by dismissing Keacy Carty with a spectacular diving catch by Marnus Labuschagne.

The West Indies batting lineup struggled to cope with Australia’s pace attack, with skipper Shai Hope and debutant Teddy Bishop falling cheaply. Athanaze provided some resistance with a battling 32 off 60 balls before falling to Adam Zampa.

In their chase, Australia wasted no time in reaching the target, with Fraser-McGurk leading the charge with his aggressive strokeplay. Josh Inglis contributed an unbeaten 35 as Australia cruised to victory with plenty of balls to spare.

Bartlett continued his dominance with the ball, cleaning up the West Indies’ tail to secure another emphatic win for Australia, completing the whitewash of the series.
