Anand Mahindra, the Chairperson of Mahindra & Mahindra, has extended a generous offer to Naushad Khan, the father of Sarfaraz Khan, as a token of appreciation for his unwavering support throughout his son’s cricketing journey. Naushad’s pivotal role in nurturing Sarfaraz’s career over the past 15 years has not gone unnoticed, and as Sarfaraz achieved his dream of donning the India Test cap, the offer of a Thar SUV serves as a heartwarming gesture.
“Hard work. Courage. Patience. These are qualities that every parent aspires to instill in their child. In recognition of Naushad Khan’s inspirational parenting, I am honored to offer him the gift of a Thar,” expressed the chairperson.
As Sarfaraz received his Test cap from Anil Kumble, it was not just a moment for him alone but a culmination of years of sacrifice and dedication shared by his wife, brother, family, and especially his father, who was moved to tears witnessing his son’s achievement. Naushad, employed with the Western Railways, hails from modest beginnings, having overcome numerous challenges including selling toffees and cucumbers on trains to make ends meet. Despite the hardships, Naushad remained steadfast in supporting his son’s aspirations, offering unwavering encouragement through every setback and triumph.
Sarfaraz’s debut half-century was the realization of a shared dream between father and son, with Naushad’s steadfast belief serving as a guiding light through the years of toil in the Ranji Trophy. Reflecting on his journey, Sarfaraz emphasized the importance of perseverance and resilience, urging aspiring youngsters to remain steadfast in their pursuits.
“Previously, I often questioned why my dreams weren’t materializing despite my hard work. But witnessing my son receive his cap has shifted my perspective. To all the young athletes striving for success, I implore you to remember that even in the darkest of times, the sun eventually shines. We have to persevere, remain patient, and never lose hope,” shared Sarfaraz on his son’s debut.
